Cheiridopsis purpurea is a fascinating succulent plant that is endemic to the Richtersveld in the Northern Cape of South Africa. It is a clump-forming succulent that produces triangular leaves in pairs, which are blue-green in color and have transparent dots. The plant produces solitary and striking magenta-pink flowers that are up to 40 mm across, which open around midday and close at sunset. The flowers have broad petals that do not fully unfold, but rather hide the stamens and feathery stigmas. The capsules of Cheiridopsis purpurea have awn-like points at the tips of expanding keels.

This plant is listed as Rare due to its small restricted area and habitat specialist nature. Cheiridopsis purpurea grows in the crevices of quartzitic bands in sandstone in Succulent Karoo vegetation. It is pollinated by insects, and the woody capsules are hygrochastic, opening when wet, and the tiny seeds are splashed out of the capsule by heavy raindrops.

In terms of cultivation, Cheiridopsis purpurea needs a sandy, well-drained soil that is rich in minerals. They respond well to regular water in autumn to winter, but rather than withholding water during summer when they normally go dormant in their natural environment, we have found that when growing them in pots they respond much better with regular watering throughout summer as well. As they naturally grow in a mineral rich environment, depending on what potting mix you are using or if you have them planted in the ground you may need to liquid feed them with a mineral rich plant food to keep them looking healthy and vibrant.

Cheiridopsis purpurea can easily be grown from seeds. The seeds should be sown in the autumn months and placed in warm water for 24 hours to improve the chances of germination. Sow the seeds in a sandy medium and cover with a thin layer of fine sand about 1 mm thick. Keep it damp, using a fine spray, until the seeds start to germinate in about seven to fourteen days. Once the seedlings start growing, slowly reduce the amount of water.

In conclusion, Cheiridopsis purpurea is a unique and captivating plant that will add interest and beauty to any succulent collection. Its triangular leaves, magenta-pink flowers, and awn-tipped capsules make it a standout plant.

My go-to sublimation paper for crafting
Size: 8.5"x11"
I've used several sublimation papers, and this one has worked really well for my crafting projects. The colors transfer bright and vibrant, and the images come out crisp with good detail when using the proper sublimation printer and ink. The paper feeds smoothly through my printer and feels like a good quality weight—not too thin and not overly thick. I've used it for tumblers, keychains, and other sublimation projects, and I've been happy with the results. I also appreciate getting 110 sheets in one pack because it lasts a while, especially when working on multiple projects at once. Overall, this is a reliable sublimation paper that gives consistent results and is great for crafters or small business owners.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easy to use and produces vibrant prints
This Hiipoo sublimation ink has been a fantastic upgrade for my EcoTank printer. The autofill bottles fit perfectly into the ink tanks - no syringes, no mess, and no wasted ink. Refilling is quick and hassle-free, which makes the whole process so much easier. The print quality is excellent. Colors come out bright, vivid, and crisp with great saturation and no fading. It transfers beautifully onto mugs, T-shirts, and tumblers, drying fast without smudges. I really appreciate that it works ICC-free, yet still delivers professional results. The ink is certified and feels reliable, and I’ve had zero clogging issues. Overall, this is a high-quality, easy-to-use sublimation ink that’s perfect for both hobby projects and small business use. Definitely recommend for anyone doing heat transfer printing.

Only Sublimation Ink for Me!!
I recently bought my second set of Hippo Sublimation Ink and continue to be thrilled with the results. This ink has proven to be a fantastic choice for my sublimation projects, delivering on all fronts. Hippo Sublimation Ink works exactly as promised. It sublimates effortlessly onto poly blend items, producing bright, vivid transfers every time. The colors are striking and true to the design, which is crucial for quality sublimation work. The results are consistently impressive, making this ink a reliable option for any project. One of the standout features is the great price. Hippo Sublimation Ink offers excellent value for money compared to other brands. Despite its affordability, it performs just as well—if not better—than more expensive options on the market. Using Hippo Ink in my Epson printer has been a breeze. The ink flows smoothly and doesn’t clog the printer, even after not being used for two weeks!!! I’ve had issues with other brands clogging my printer, leading to frustration and wasted time, not to mention all the maintenance puts wear and tear on the printer. With Hippo, there’s been no such problem, making it a hassle-free choice for sublimation printing. Hippo Sublimation Ink has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, price, and ease of use. It’s the only ink I will use in my printer from now on. If you’re looking for a high-quality sublimation ink that’s both affordable and reliable, Hippo is an excellent choice. It delivers bright, beautiful transfers and maintains smooth operation without any of the typical issues associated with other brands. Highly recommended!

Great for Sublimation!
I’m a bit new to sublimation and was worried about having dull colors, but this ink is doing wonders! The quality is great, I can adjust the amount on the printer and get the exact, rich, vibrant colors I want. (I found some recommended settings for brightness, contrast, etc… and then tweak the cyan, magenta, and yellow to the desired amount.) I definitely recommend getting this ink! It’s so easy to refill the printer (I have an Eco tank 15000). The cost is not bad at all. I’ve only washed some of the items one time and so far the ink has remained unchanged. Seems like a winner to me!
